Who we are...
Wye Valley Music (WVM) is a registered charity dedicated to the promotion of classical chamber music. The society typically puts on eight to ten concerts a year in venues situated in and around the lower Wye Valley.
WVM is a society of just over one hundred members who support its musical activity through an annual subscription and donations. All our concerts and other activities are open to the public and we offer substantial concessions in ticket prices for students and school children. The society is run by a committee of volunteers and other helpers who organise events, host our musicians and arrange catering for our audiences.

What are our aims?
Now in our 53rd year, Wye Valley Music aims primarily to bring first-rate national and international musicians to a rural area where audiences living in both England and Wales find it difficult to travel to concerts in urban centres, especially in winter and at night.
We also provide performance opportunities for younger and more recently qualified soloists and chamber musicians who are launching themselves on their professional careers. In particular, we have close links with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and each year our programme features a showcase concert by award-winning pianists and chamber ensembles made up of final year students. In addition to being hugely enjoyable, we believe these activities play an important part in younger musicians’ professional development and in sustaining the art of music-making, thus providing a social benefit wider than just entertainment.
We believe we are good at what we do; we have enthusiastic audiences and a good reputation among similar societies.
A further aim of the society is to develop a future audience for classical music by introducing children in local schools to the excitement of live performances by top quality professional performers.
