The Salomé Quartet are recognised for their heartfelt interpretations and electric sense of communication, and are quickly establishing a reputation as one of UK’s most exciting young string quartets. Formed originally in 2016  by prizewinning students at the Royal College of Music in London, the group have performed at concert halls at home and abroad, including Milton Court, the Barbican Centre, Wigmore Hall, Conway Hall, Cadogan Hall, and in festival and concert society performances around the UK.

Futher afield, they have performed at the Tel Aviv Opera House, Cremona Stauffer Centre and the quartet was invited to the Keshet Eilon International Mastercourse in Israel, the Trondheim Academy in Norway, Musethica Germany. They were selected as finalists in the St Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition. They have co-created and performed in a West End theatre production ‘Dr Semmelweis’ revolving around Schubert’s ‘Death and the Maiden’, receiving multiple five star reviews. They have a long standing collaboration with the acclaimed composer John Woolrich, having recorded several of his new works, as well as performing programmes curated by him across the country. The Quartet have been selected as Britten Pears Young Artists and have won the Tunnell Trust.

For Wye Valley Music, the group will present a programme of music written across five centuries by composers  who were all innovative in their time and whose contributions to the string quartet repertoire have made a lasting imprint on the history of classical music – Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Caroline Shaw, and Maurice Ravel, They will also include a work written by the iconic medieval composer Hildegard of Bingen who, as you are all aware, was the German Benedictine abbess and polymath active as a writer, composer, philosopher, mystic, visionary, and as a medical writer and practitioner in the 12th century!

 Hildegard von Bingen: Antiphons
Schubert: Quartettsatz in C minor, D. 703
